What’s This All About?
This site tracks all of my current and past courses within the English/Humanities programs at the University of New England. My current courses will each have their own page on the top menu, while previous courses will be compiled into the drop-down menu above. It also serves as a place for me to post about my writing, including how good/bad it’s going. All pieces that I’ve written can be found here, along with drafts and research for each project.
“There was a time when broken crayons littered the floor of the study and a staticky radio would blare old Queen hits while two kids and their mum stamped their feet and howled that they needed somebody to love”
Of Slugs and Dragons, Alex Kiehnau
“The bike was Chuck Berry red with white walled tires and a silver luggage rack just behind the seat. It was propped up in Eddie’s window by its own built-in kickstand on a wooden stage. Almost by the grace of God Himself, a golden beam of light shone through the summer sky and illuminated the bike. The perfect spotlight for one of the most gorgeous models I’d ever seen.”
Allan Nash, Alex Kiehnau
“Caim whisked his sword towards the ceiling. The books started quivering, vibrating in midair. Then, the books took off, zipping and crashing into the walls, leaving chunks of styrofoam in their wake. One book flew directly into one of the flickering glass lanterns. Pieces of shattered glass rained down, tinkling as they hit the floor. The group gasped as the room was plunged into darkness. The security footage went black only for a moment until the night-vision kicked in. Ghostly black and white figures of children stumbled around the room as the books clattered in the air. The screams of joy quickly dissolved into screams of terror as children fell to the floor.”
Caim and Abel, Alex Kiehnau
What’s Alex Reading?
I like tracking the books I read on a website called, “The Story Graph”. Here, I’ve make a list of everything I’ve read, everything I want to read, and everything I’m currently reading. It also allows you to track your progress and creates personalized statistics.
